Deer antlers

While out hunting I found a couple of bucks that had been shot but not recovered. One was a four, the other an eight. Too bad both of these deer would have been real nice in the next couple of years. Anyways I thought about cutting off the antlers, but I'm not sure if you are allowed to with out the deer being tagged. Whats the rules when this occurs?

I'm not positive, however, I strongly feel that it is illegal to cut the antlers off without tagging the animal first. My grandma say to ask a CO to allow to to cut off the antlers with his supervision. This may be a good question for Boer.
