Lately I have been have problems with my new Minnkota 65ap bowmount trolling motor. It finally wouldn't work at all last Sunday(June 8th). Took it apart and found the brushes were burnt and melted. Closest repair center is in Howell. 1 1/2 hr drive for me one way. I called the factory to order new parts. Even if they charged me for the parts, it would be much cheaper than driving there and back twice. Called on Monday afternoon and recieved the parts on Friday. Put it back together and it works fine. They did not even charge me for the shipping or for the parts. Thats the way cusomer service should be for warrenty repairs.

I had an issue on my Walleye Boat with a Minnkota Part. I have a Minn Kota Power UP for my kicker. This is the hydraulic model that bolts to the transom, not that cheap @ss electromechanical thing that clamps on. They quit making my model a few years ago. The springs in the contacts broke and a brush became jammed in the motor, this happened at 9am on a Friday morning in my driveway while prepping for a trip to Bay De Noc. I called a few service places and they recommeded calling the factory since it's a discontinued product. I called the factory at 9:15 am. They took the information, and overnighted - Saturday Delivery - a new motor assembly -- FREE POSTAGE -- to the resort I was staying at on Little Bay De Noc. By 11:00 am Saturday, I was back in business. I did have to pay for the part, its a four year old piece of equipemnt so I really expected to. Overall, I was pleased with the experience.

Maybe Motorguide should take some notes, those guys suck, I'll never buy a Motorguide motor again. I'm on my third now and each time I have had nothing but trouble from the first time they hit the water AND I get no service help from the factory. The problem is, all three boats I've bought come with the dang things.

Here's one more positive story about MinnKota service. I have an old Minnkota bowmount that was acting up this spring. I called their Customer Service and described the problem, and they walked me through exactly what was wrong, which parts I needed, and how to install them. The best part was, they said "Please call us when you're working on your motor if you have problems, and we'll talk you through how to fix it."

My next electric motor will be a MinnKota.
