Very true indeed. It's why I started trapping! With all of the big dollars being spent downstate for refuges and restoration projects, it's up to us, up north, to maintain a healthy balance between predation and brood stock. I have trapped the local nesting arena's extensively the past several years, and the results (waterfowl nesting success) have been outstanding!!
For those involved with pheasants, wild turkey, or grouse organizations, consider trappers as your friends. We need your support, and will in turn support you whether in politics or trapping out your excess predators. ;)
