Then please visit and shop at our sponsors. Some of our new sponsors include Dunhams, BackCountry, Planetoutdoors, and Binoculars.com. If you can find something there that you were going to buy someone for Christmas anyway. Please shop with us at home. Please follow the links and banners from our site, as this is the only way we get credit for sales.

Yeah, I know. Unforunately they don't have an affiliate program.

For example if you read our article about the Vortec head lamp at http://www.michigan-sportsman.com/hunting_articles/vortec.htm
Then browse to the bottom of the article, click on the image to buy one. It would make a great present for any sportsman.

Steve are you getting credit or revenue for site hits or purchases only?
I sure don't mind surfing a little to support this site, even if I know I do not intend to make a purchase.
Also, I sure will make a purchase through these links that I would otherwise make in the store, if the opportunity avails itself. This is a great site and I want you stick around.

The newer affiliates that I just added I only get credit if you make a purchase. The same with Amazon and the tee-shirts. Some of the other micellaneous garbage advertising you see I get paid just for showing it. Also some of our old sponsors such as bigfishtackle and DNR sports and DeerCrack I've been paid to advertise their sites for a year so by all means frequent them as well.

Ok, we've added another affiliate "CheaperthanDirt.com". You will see their ads in a button on the top right. They have archery, hunting, and camping supplies for sale. You ought to be able to find something on your favorite hunter's list there and help this site at the same time. So far we've gotton $0 worth of orders through the new affiliates that we've added.

Well the "CheaperThanDirt" site has been getting a lot of hits through our links, but no sales as of yet. Hope you guys don't have all your Christmas shopping done yet :)
Steve, have you tried Gander Mountain? this might be a good place to shop on line.

Old Hunter, I'm sure it is a good place to shop but they don't have an affiliate program.

Steve, do you get credit for anything ordered off Amazon dot com. or just the Michigan & hunting related stuff. The reason I ask is the wife orders books, toys & music through them if you get credit I will have her order through your website.
Steve

YESSSSS! We get credit for anything ordered through our site at Amazon. If you don't see what you are looking for in our bookstore go to Amazon through our "Find Any Book" link to Amazon on the upper right hand side of our bookstore page (You have to go through that link in order for us to get credit, do not go directly to Amazons page by typing in their URL). Thank you all for your patronage.

I want to make it clear that as long as you go through the "Search Amazon" box from our bookstore, anything you buy at Amazon will give us a % of the buy. It can be anything from kids toys, to books, to tools.

CheaperThanDirt took my money.
They have a lot. I spent half an hour there and barely browsed.
Hope that the links worked. I had no idea which code to use as a reference (left the first one in the box xxxx-AR).

I urge you all to take a look at "Cheaper Than Dirt" for those hunters and fishermen on your list. Good prices and lots of stuff. Amazon pays the best, but Cheaper than Dirt has more stuff for the sportsman.

I mean you REALLY have to click on the Cheaper Than Dirt Banner! They have TONS of stuff there for the sportsman or woman on your list. You name it, they have it. I'm doing some shopping there myself. If you are going to buy something for a sportman this Christmas, please click through our banner to get there. DO NOT type in their URL by hand, or we don't get commision.

Never had a problem. And your card nummber is probably better protected with the 128 bit encryption than if you go buy in a store and have someone looking at it, or by phone where the person could be sitting there and making a list of the numbers. I'm telling you guys this Cheaper Than Dirt site have a whole lot of stuff. I concentrating my affiliate programs with them and Amazon.

I have had a few information systems management classes and to be frank, if someone wants your information, they have it. However, as Steve alluded to, it is no worse or perhaps better than person-to-person transactions. That said, check the privacy statement on cheaper than dirt's homepage (bottom of page). You may or may not find it reassuring.
Anyway, it seems like good gear at a good price, and certainly for a good cause - this site, so I am down with it. I am going to get a trigger lock and a guncase from cheaper than dirt.com and a couple books from Amazon (one is Wingshooters Guide to Michigan :)).
