Did it count as my first? I went out with a guy from work and we were trolling right in front of the beach Saturday when all of a sudden he pulls his pole and I hear crap my lines in the prop. As the line is screaming out of the pole the motor stops. He says I though that it was a fish. I raise the motor I start working on the string that wrapped around the prop by cutting his line and then the line in the water. With the cut line in my hand I pull on it to retrieve the harness I feel a fish. I’m all excited and start yelling grab the net; the guy I’m with is like what? I’ve got a fish grab the net. I’m out of my mind laughing and carrying on as I’m pulling up the walleye only by the monofilament. Soon we landed it and it turned out to be a 19”. So would this be counted as my fist walleye? I thinking not but lets here what you think. By the way we had boat coming from all directions from the racket I was making.:D

I would say it counts. If the line hadn't gotten tangled in the prop it still would have been on rod and reel. Just say you were handlining!:D

I would say if the fish were on the line prior to getting in the prop, it is not yours. If the fish hit while you were pulling in the line by hand, yes, it's your first. The way I read it, it sounds like the fish was already on the line when you cut it loose from the prop.
