Was wondering if anyone out there could see any problems with my repowering issue. I was in the process of repowering my 98' 232 Grady White with T-200 Yamaha 4-strokes. In the process, they're removing the single engine "grady/gill bracket" and replacing it with a dual engine "grady/gill bracket" and then reglassing it.

Well, we just came to the realization that my 98' 232 in only rated for a max HP of 350. But then in 99', the max HP increased to 400HP. I spoke with GW directly and all they could tell me is that they "beefed up" the engine bracket. The boat measurements and look are identical ever since 97'.

So does anyone see a problem with an extra 50HP or 216lbs on the boat even with installing the newer bracket? Any help would be greatly appreciated....

Not really sure Chad. I question whether the Coast Guard would have a problem with you if they stopped your boat?

Just a thought.

Since you installing Grady Whites updated bracket, and the transom specs havent changed and they rate them to handle that type of HP with the new bracket, maybe they would issue a new rating tag? Highly unlikely, but worth a try. I believe overpowering a boat is not against State law, but I am not sure about what the Coasties would say. BTW. are you putting wings on that thing???:D
