Never posted a pic in a thread before, but I'll give it a try.
This is NOT ME getting the jump, but I thought it was funny. I got the impression that the cop was a buddy of these guys. Who said the cops are never there when you need them...

I was with a buddy of mine at Grindstone, we just put the boat on the trailer and he stalled his truck on the ramp. It was about 3am, there was a state police car on patrol and he stopped to help us, tried to jump the battery but still wouldn't start. He called for help and had a tow truck sent out to assist us. The next morning we were in the process of changing the starter and found a piece of a broken clutch spring jammed in the starter gear, we put the starter back in and went on our way.

Most patrol cars can't give jumps because it blows out the computers and radios in them. Big trouble for the cop if the administration has to buy new ones. That's why cops usually won't give jumps. MSP doesn't have computers to it's probably not a problem for them.

oh that brings back memories
back about 84 my buddy an I were on a back road and we decided to turn around,so I start to make a 3 point turn and my car stalled and it will not turn over, not really a big deal but I was blocking the road and a little while later a school bus came down the road,I talked to the bus driver and while she could not give me a jump she was very understanding and called to get me a tow truck
so anyway we are sitting there killing time and my buddy Paul get out this old BB gun from the back seat,I belive it was a Red-Rider and we were just killing time shooting at cans on the side of the road, so every now and then a car would come down the road and I would explain and then I would tell them that I was sorry but unless they had jumper-cables I could not move the car
well everything was fine exept one car just turned aroud and left without talking to me
I did not think much about it at the time but a short while later I see a state cop turn down the road, and I think good he will give us a jump, but then 2 more state cops came right behind him ,and 2 more from the other way
the cars pull up they kick their doors open, guns drawn,,you know a-la Adam 12 style and order our hands up
one of the cops came up to me and said where is the gun!
and right about then you know just before I wet myself I remembered the one car that just turned around and sped away
so I calmly told the cop that it was a BB gun and it was in the back seat of the car,,he then told me to show him where but not to touch it just show him
so I take him over to the car and point to the back seat,,he is still dead serious at this point,,he looks in the back seat and picks up the BB gun and yells hey Bob look at this,
at that point they all started to laugh,,I thought he was going to wet himself
so I explained what the problem was and he gave me a jump
he told me my car sounded like a ticket! but he did not give me one,,the car was a 1969 Buick Electra with a 430 engine and just twin strait pipes,,it was well, a little hard on the ears
anyway it all worked out,,but I can only imagine what the person who called told them! I think he was a little let down we were out of BB's I think he wanted to play with the gun

I emailed this pic to a buddy of mine who is a state cop and asked him if this is why no one can get a cop when needed. Between fishing trips and the donut shop and all.:D
On a fair note to him, a few weeks ago he saved a teenage girls life from a car wreck in the Saginaw/ Flint area and it looks like she's going to be OK. I'm proud to call this man my friend.

Most cops now carry jump packs in the trunk.

Kinda of subject, but this pics takes me back to last nov.
Me and Ruler were fishin off the ramps there. Guy pulls up and parks near where the red truck is parked in the photo. Guy walks out, and talks to us. Trucks starts to go by itself backwards, down the rocks, and slam into the large wooden dock over there. This isn't the first, and surely not the last, "different" thing to be seen in that location.
