How exactly is the winner going to be decided?? I just looked through all the entries and there are many excellent photos up there but without a doubt my favorite of the bunch is Strutnspurs's 6 pointer!!!!!! Awesome picture! That's banner material for sure.

There are sure some fine racks. I think I'd give the edge to Mechanical Heads for the mass and length of the tines. <----<<<

I looked at it yesterday and saw all the good deer that have been taken by you. I was glad to see that the contest goes until the end of the deer season intead of just until the end of Gun season like other buck poles! I still have a chance with 1 month of the late season! :D

Well, I was impressed by all all of the deer! I haven't shot one yet this year so I can't compare mine.
I just think that as far as Photo quality Strutnspur's picture was far superior than everyone elses(No offense) I don't care if it was a spike horn or a doe! It had great depth and clarity, no tounge handing out, not much blood, no pickuptrucks or building in the background! It is a quality memory.
Mechanical heads deer is a straight out PIG! but not my favorite of the bunch , because of photo location. No offense guys but I'm pretty particular about my hunting/fishing pics!

Trust me Weezer if I wasn't hunting in the rain and by myself I would have loved to have gotten a better photo. I do have a couple photo's of the deer alone where he fell, and a couple others of me with the buck at the farm, but they did not turn out as good. I also really enjoy good photo's, and SNS picture is sweet.

I agree with Joe Archer, I would vote for Mechanical Head’s buck. I like the mass on his buck. Plus, it's a buck pole not a photo contest.

I want to just tell you guys that even though myself and possibly some of the moderators on this site will make the final selections for winners on the buck pole, I appreciate and am listening to all of your comments. This year as I always I expect the decision to be very difficult.

Hey Mechanical head! see the picture of me on the corner of the banner with that steelhead? That is a sweet picture (When full size) the only flaw in it was the guy that is standing behind me! Steve was able to blend in the background so he doesn't appear! he might be able to doctor your photo up a little too. I re looked all the photos today and your pic was pretty good, it looked like you took some time to choose a better background too. Actually there are many good photos on the pole! I managed to pick apart all but the one so far though. YES I"M PICKY, I criticize my pics worse than strangers though!
When(And I mean when) I get my deer this year I will probably burn a whole role of film with my camera and some film on Ladykillers too and I will only find one or two that are "good enough" for me!

The pictures I liked the best were Mechanical Head, Tim Baker, Basscat,Matt Fri.. heck, they are all good! LOL! :D

I really thought Hoytshooter was special.. showing a father and son together - the father teaching the ways of hunting to his son. Yes, the buck was smaller than some... but that is a really good photo!

Besides, if you had to judge by buck alone - that would be such a tough job! Lots of good lookin' bucks this year! :)

Weezer, Mechanical Head & Steve, Thank you for the compliments on my deer photo, I'm flattered and glad you guys enjoyed it. I aways believed that a photo taken of a harvested game animal in its own natural habitat can be the best trophy you could hang on the wall or sit on a table, it can tell you and everyone else more than just the animal itself hanging on the wall.
I believe strongly that everyone should try their best to honor these animals with a memory that will show and tell the life they live. Take the time to do this, and you have a memory that speaks for it's self.
I know that there is some circumstances that can prevent good photo's from being taken, then again some of those make for a better picture(it tells the story). You just have to try your best with what you have. The photo I took was taken by myself with a tripod and a remote control set up in about 6" of swamp water. I took about 15 frames before I was satisfied, then I choose the best one. The photo was taken right where he died, 20 yards from where I shot him.
Mechanical Head, I really like your deer that is one really great trophy and the photo is very nice also, I think you did a great job!
There is a lot of very nice trophys on the pole and I enjoy looking at them all...SnS

I fully intend to take a buck in December.
I face however, the same issue as Mechanical Head. I bowhunt alone.
I do carry a small camera (I have lots of ducks and geese on my current roll), but I really cant get a nice picture in the field, with both me and the monstrous rack-bearing buck in the picture. Maybe I could set up my back yard as sort of an outdoor studio. ;) Complete with swampy background and prop squirrels.
I am green with envy at all the great deer on the post. Great job folks!

Doesn't everyone hang their deer? Who here hasn't visited a buck pole to admire the deer that were displayed? One could even claim that a picture of a hanging deer would be highly appropriate even on an electronic "buck pole". To me pictures are taken to capture memories. Since I am a realist, it can be pictures of a deer hanging, or on the back of a truck. These pictures are just as accurate as pictures of deer created with false realism. Anyway, I try to take pictures to capture all aspects of a memorable hunt....period. <----<<<

I have a picture of the doe i took this year hanging. But I'm not sure I want to put my "doe" on the "buck pole"

Fred Bear, your buck is great. Will it win I don't think so but looks to be a great deer. I look at some of the deer on this site and wonder where some of these guys hunt. I have never seen a group of so many wonderful bucks. Are we sure all of them came from MI? lol.

Also, am I the only person who noticed that many of the entries are from people who never post on this board? When there is a prize involved the members come out of hiding.

Steve,

Thanks for reposting the picture of my buck. That polaroid snap shot did not do him any justice. This being the biggest buck I have ever taken I was excited to get a picture and get it posted on the web. I will have more patience next year.

We only have so many prizes to give away. I wish we could give one away to everyone but we must pick some winners.

Great deer, is there a way I can show a photo of the buck I shot in Montana last week? I am not trying to enter it in the contest, just show it.
It has 15 scorable points and my taxidermist did a quick score on it, he figured it was close to 150 BC

Deerless,

I would like to say why so many people "come out of hiding" if you will... I found this site, because this year - I shot my first buck. I was looking for a Michigan hunting forum, and found this on a search engine. I posted a couple of posts, bragging about shoting a 10 point; my first buck. Then, someone asked me to put it on the pole... and I found out about the contest.

I really do not expect to win with all of those huge bucks to compete with - I just like to share my story. :)

I think others are like me. Its hunting season.... so, everyone is coming out of hiding. :)

When will you decide on a winner? I still got a lot of hunting to do! I won't post my doe (and very first deer!) until the end of the season in case a big bruiser decides I should shoot him.

Hope,

I didn't mean you. You are new, but very active in the forums. We all appreciate that. I was just saying, some of the names on in the buck pole are names I have never heard before. Not that there is anything wrong with that. They are just quiet.

You are right, some of the people who joined the forums just joined to get their buck on the pole. But there are a few others like HOPE who joined because of the buck pole and are contributing greatly to this site. Even if we pick up only a few like HOPE it is well worth the deadbeats.

weezer, I tried to email it to you, but my puter timed out (slow). Maybe I will swing by the store and let you see the pictures.

I am not trying to enter it in the buck pole, I just figured fellow hunters would like to see a decent buck.

that is the biggest buck I have ever taken. I am sorry for the "in the truck" Photo but I wanted to get the deer on the poll. I have some in the feild photos I could post but I dont want to offend anyone by posting the same buck twice. The hunt that day was just so perfect. I took him from a new piece of farm land I just acuired. so I hope to post every year. There are some big kahunas out on this land.
