The weekend started on a creepy note for me. We were having dinner at our friends house who lives on Lake St. Clair. Before dinner we took a walk down to his beach to see a muskie that had washed up. To our surprise and horror there was a human body floating face down. Within minutes we had 10-15 police and detectives on the scene. Turned out to be an oriental female in her sixties. Had not been in the water long at all. Police guessed that maybe she was fishing from shore by the spillway and fell in somehow. Very sad and haunting

Man that's terrible Downrod. My father was in charge of the Wayne County Sheriff Marine Division. Back then, LSC was not as clean and I remember the divers telling me that they could not see the body till it was about 12 inches away and in some cases they would scan the bottom with their hands. I used to have nightmares thinking about it!

Dead muskies dead people whats next ? Sorry you had to see that wonder why she didn't swin to shore if she fell in by the spillway the water along the edge is pretty shallow she would of had to jump. When I was a kid Me and my unkles would swim there and never had a problem also the current is almost gone totally due to the damn at 16 and harper.

Perchaman, she may have hit her head, knocking her unconscious.
Downrod, that must have been an awful sight. Every time I fish the Detroit River I wonder what I might see, since you always hear about accidental and suicidal deaths in and around that water system.

downrod - welcome to the club ! I think that I posted here awhile ago about finding a body down at the banana dyke area once while bowfishing for carp.As bad as this might sound it's like finding human roadkill and it freaks you out for awhile.

In my short 32 years.. ive actually helped pull 3 out. The very first one was terrible, I was 14 years old and we watched him go under at a beach on erie,, we pulled him up about 15 minutes later and dragged him back in. Alcohol a factor.
The second was when I was 17 and a buddy who we were vactioning with decided to go for a canoe ride late one night. I found him floating 100 yards from the cabin the next morning. Alcohol a factor.
The last one was last year on st.clair, we just through a rope around the ankle and made the phone call. Once again,,, alcohol a factor!
I hope the "it happens in threes" goes for this too,,,, id really hate to do it again!
