Front grizzly mauls size record

Biologists catch, release largest bear ever recorded in lower 48 states

The 11Þ-year-old grizzly bottomed out the 800-pound scales used by Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks, said Mike Madel, a grizzly bear management specialist with the FWP.
Bears lose about 20 percent of their body weight during hibernation, so in its prime the bear likely weighs about 1,000 pounds, Madel said.

Thats cool news!
Imagine rounding a bend in the trail and seeing that brute!
The adrenaline rush would be overpowering.
And if you lived to tell the tale, you'd tell it as long as you lived.
I have never seen a Griz in the wild, although I did seek them out in '78 in Yellowstone.
My younger brother saw a Sow and two cubs while fishing, a few years back tho.

Trout, "Imagine rounding a bend in the trail and seeing that brute! The adrenaline rush would be overpowering."

I agree, but in my case the rush to fill my pants would be overpowering causing great comedy to my ability to run like heck.
