Anyone used the Splitfire plugs? Looking for input on performance. Seems like just a gimmick to me but if they do perform well I would try them. Right now there is a $2.00 rebate per plug making them very reasonable priced.

I have to say skip the splitfires ... I put a set in my blazer a few years back ... I will say that I did notice a power increase .. it has a weak 6 banger in it and I could tell when pulling hills ... I was impressed at the time ... So I put them in my escort .. about 6 months later it started missing and cutting out ... I have some experience with engines, and I had never heard cutting out like this one was doing ... During this time I had almost quit driving my blazer so it had been sitting, I had driven it off and on... Well one moning last year it snowed pretty good and I decided to take the blazer to work ... it wouldn't start .. would just start and die like it was out of gas .. I didn't have time to fool with it .. it sat until I could tow it up to the garage ... The rest is a long story, but it turned out the the splitfire plugs were the problem in both vehicles... Up until that point I was going to put them in my boat .. it is 26ft and uses quite a bit of gas .. I thought if I could get any gain in mileage it would be worth the price .. I have decided against it.. I just don't trust them now. I think between the 2 vehicles they lasted an average of around 20,000 miles .. but when they went bad, they went bad quick and in away that I had never seen ... If anyone has these plugs and your vehicle starts missing .. or for no reason just cutting out while idling, I would strongly suggest you take a look at your plugs .. It might save you a major headache ....

They're a gimmick. If you see better performance in them it's because of the better materials.
A good pair of premium platinum plugs is the best way to go. Especially in a 2-stroke if that's what you're running.
