Everyone said they lost a screamer lately. Was that on a spoon or fishcatcher/fly? If it was a fly are you using a treble only on the fly?

I make my own flies Tim and have good luck with two 2/0 single hooks tied in tandem. Once there hooked with those they rarely shake them. I also have big singles on some of my spoons.

Tim-

I lost a screamer yesterday on a spoon. I was 8-9 on that rod for the day, so I wasn't blaming the hooks. It ran off a few hundred feet of line, then when I was busy cranking up the rigger the fish fell off.

Thanks for that mental image Marc. lol

Almost every report for the last week or so said they lost a screamer, (or large fish uncontrollably ripping line from your reel :) lol), and I was wondering what they hit and came off on. Trebles have a tendency to pull out of hooked fish unless the gap of the hook is larger than the fish's jawbone. I have had good luck with the large single hook on my flies and some spoons. I am just looking to land my screamer next time out in hopes it will be SUZY, the 30 lb king.:p

We got a screamer(15 pound king) and lost another screamer about the same size last weekend. All on mag spoons, the one we lost got on top of a wave and was gone, but i still dont understand why. It happens though.

Targa 18, double orange crush has been on fire lately! What depth were you fishing, setup, etc?

I had a little one take me to school today. Three long runs before showing up deep with the wire dipsey I thought did not trip. I landed it about an 8 lb just full of it. Fought for 3X its size.
