WASHINGTON -- The federal government has failed to coordinate cleanup programs on the Great Lakes with states and regional groups, according to a congressional report released Wednesday.
The report from the General Accounting Office, the investigative arm of Congress, said more than $1.7 billion was spent on 33 federal restoration activities, 17 state cleanup programs, including four in Ohio, and numerous other U.S. Army Corps of Engineers projects since 1992.
