David last year when I put in my food plots a fellow told me to add selluimun to the ground so I added trace mineral salt with selluimun on one side the deer seem to hit that side more than the untreated side so this year i really loaded it up this year.....marty

David depends on a few things. How nuch rain, how big of a plot. I have about an acre and I went with 100 lbs for it but we had a real dry summer. If you plot is not too big should work out fine.........marty

Guys, what is salerium? The closest thing on the periodic table is selenium or is it a brand name.

Hey Marty, do you know Lee Major? Lee and I work for the same professor here at the U of M. Lee and another guy work out of Oscoda at the base and I'm pretty sure he still lives in Greenbush. I was in Greenbush once and it isn't very big so I thought you might know him.

tim, you're right it is selenium, i had the spelling wrong.

marty, i'm just planning on digging some small holes next week add the selenium and a little water, and then some without water to see what happens.

Hey guys, where does one get selenium? Would Quality Farm & Fleet carry it? How do you spread it - dig small holes and fill? Sounds like something that deer love which means I love it too!

Thanks,

Ben

Marty FYI, our group here in the Environmental Engineering Department does groundwater bioremediation research at the old Fire Training Area and the crash site of the KC-135 at the base. I have traveled up to the base several times in the last three years and I’m always amazed at just how big it is.

Marty, I don't know Paul personally but we have to get his approval for any experiment we perform on the base.
