I can stay in my warm bed, or sit out in what promises to be the coldest morning yet, hmmmm... You gotta be a little nuts to be a hunter. I'll be out before daylight.
Good luck to y'all.

I gave it a thought but being as cold as it will be and with all this snow we have on the ground that warmed alittle bit today I will find it very hard to do my little ballet dance stalk into my swamp where they are bedded without scareing them into the next county so I will let it rest and let the other hunters scare them into the swamp for me to enter on a warmer day when they can't hear me doing my tippy toed ballet dance to my stand. :)

Nope, we have a family tradition of going down to the parade on Woodward.
As nasty as it gets we go down at least for a while. This weekend though . . .

I will be going out tomorrow morning, but it will be birds, not deer.

Have a safe holiday everyone.

I'll be out even though I am now left with only two doe permits. This is the type of time that I try to help family get their deer, if they havn't already. Tomorrow, I will be the dog.

I sat in a COLD tree line this morning. I saw nothing, and heard only a few distant shots. It gave me time to be thankful for everything, especially my mickey mouse boots!

Ditto what Tom said... I had so many layers of clothes on I may not have been able to shoulder the gun even if I did see a deer. I got the crap scared out of me when I flushed a pheasant walking to my blind. that got some adrenaline going!

Well I slept in till 8:00, had a nice quiet morning "refresher"with the Mrs.. Then my son and I went out and jumped ducks in the local drainage ditches. After shooting 3 drakes we got home just in time to eat a huge meal. Now it's nap time. Ahhhh life is gooooood!

I went out this morning early...hunted alone until around noon, saw a very small spike around 8:30, he was bouncing around until about 9:15 spikes were so small he was there 10 minutes before I saw them...then had my Dad bring out my 10 yr old son out around Noon. We "hunted hard", he really worked over my Bow Grunter + but got no responses, until 1:30 then went in for dinner. The spike was the only deer seen until the ride home when we saw a nice doe about 300yds from the property I hunt. Made him happy so I was happy. Great day.
Happy Thanksgiving to all.

I went out for a few hours this morning to still hunt along a water-course in a cedar swamp. I shot a doe in there on Sunday, but this morning's hunt didn't last long. After snowing for a week straight, we have 2' of snow on the ground. Snowshoes aren't very good for still hunting, so I didn't bring them along. Boy, was it a rough little walk. The weather was fairly nice. It was dead calm, and about 15 degrees at day break.
It looks as if I'll have to snowshoe into a stand and sit still this weekend.

I went out on Thanksgiving morning. I was looking forward to it sooooo much because the 8 pointer I have been after was spotted the night before. So I knew he was still alive & that I stood a chance :)

Bad things happen! I suffer from a bad back have had 2 surgerys over the last few years. So as fait would have it, I climbed into my stand and then it started. My back started to hurt something bad! I had all I could do just to get back to the truck. So I was hurting real good.

That sucks! I was looking forward to being out there for the long haul and it was such a great morning. The temps were just right...not too warm...not too cold. I hope to be back up and running for the weekend and plan to puch the swamp to see if I can get the big one!

I went hunting on thanksgiving and shot a 10 point! I happend to look out my kitchen window, and noticed a huge buck on the side of the woods. I have kids, so I thought for sure I couldnt keep them quite - but they were great! I asked them to sit quite while I went to shoot the buck. It was about 20 yards from me when I shot it. I hid behind my above groud swimming pool - peeked up and over it. Let me tell you, it was a task just being quite so he wouldnt run! He looked up at me as I prepared to shoot. I shot once. He ran about 4 or 5 yards is all - and dropped. He has a non-typical rack. Its AWESOME. I have pictures, but need to upload them first. Its only my 2nd post on this site. I love it here already! :) :)
