View Full Version : Rigger problem
I have a downrigger problem I hope you can help me out with. I have one that seems to spin or something so the line from the rod gets wrapped aroond the wire and makes for one heck of a mess. Of course when and if a fish hits when its like this, bye bye fish and spoon and all. My question, why is it doing that, it seems to only happen when I run it deeper than say 40' or so. I have tried to straigten the clip on top of the ball and tried different balls same results. Whats the deal anyone have any ideas?

Gotta figure it's the wire. Maybe a kink or twist past 40 feet that causes it. Changing the balls ruled out a scewed up fin. I guess my next switch would be the wire and the terminal tackle but if it was the terminal you'd figure it would do it above 40 feet. If that doesn't do it I'd try switching the riggers and see if the other one does it on that side.
Good luck.
I have switched sides with the riggers just to see if that solved the problem, but alas no. I'll try a new cable and terminal tackle and hopefully that will solve the problem. Thanks tga

i have a problem with my riggers as well, they are all in the garage and dry!
:D you could let the cable out in your yard or at a big parking lot and see if it is all twisted.
