well it's wed morning about ten oclock in the middle of rifle season in mich and i see there is 15 people here wow.you all fill your tags or are ya at work???

Both, at work with nothing but a doe tag left. I will not fill the doe tag this year. I took a six point with my bow on October 2nd, and a seven point with my rifle on November 15th. If I go back up it will be to give my oldest son a chance to bow hunt in December. He took his first deer too this year :) <----<<<

Work. Took on some additional work, in part, to pay for the new shotgun I am buying.

Didn't get a buck the first three days but was able to fill a doe permit on the fourth day with a large doe and came home. I only need one deer so I am all done for the year and I never found a good recipe for antlers anyway.

Personally, I don't get much enjoyment out of gun hunting...and I never have tags left when the season rolls around anyway, except for maybe a doe permit somewhere. This year I got 4 with my bow...a 6pt, 7pt, and 2 does. I plan on trying for one more doe for the freezer in Dec. on my final doe tag. B4 you guys bash me for taking so many deer, one thing is for sure, I love venison...my wife and I eat it 3-5 times a week. These 4 deer will be gone by March. To me, venison is just like any other meat. When I lived up in AK, the hunting license is cheap...my freezer was always filled with moose, caribou, salmon, and grouse....beef was just way too expensive, and wild game was super cheap. So I lived off wild game....as I like to do now as much as possible. To me, deer are nothing more than free ranging cows, put and take for me to eat! Besides, when you live off of wild game, you really learn how to make some fantastic meals and it is much healthier than store bought meat. Also, I can control butchering process and atmosphere. It appears that gun hunter #'s may be in decline in our state....but bowhunting popularity is still rising...perhaps a shift in strategies and generations. ANYWAY (gettin long winded) as I am sure some of these other fella's can attest, I feel that it is easier to harvest a deer with a bow anyway..for alot of reasons, and more and more people are catching on.

Gosh no, I didn't take 3 bucks. I don't always agree with the DNR but I do abide by their laws and recommendations....always. Sorry it was unclear. Besides it would have been sort of dumb to post a poach wouldn't it?

Maybe I was a little....some hunters get so touchy feely about taking more than 1 or 2. I hesitate to say anything....sustainance hunting isn't too popular here in the lower 48. I don't need to do it, I just LOVE venison. Venison salami, chili, jerky, roasts, steaks, ka-bob's, sticks, chops, ribs, tenderloins, stir-fry....I could really care less about antlers...but some of the deer in the freezer have to have 'em to be legal. Man, it's like 150lbs. of prime-rib for the cost of a deer license to me. I don't know why everyone doesn't collect their venison just on general principle. People are just strange.
I target one buck for sport every year...but I only chase him 50% of the time. The other 50% filling my freezer in other areas. Last year I shot 8 with my bow, practiceing QDM with those unlimited tags to the landowners. If not abused, they were a very effective tool. Our buck sightings rose dramatically on this parcel this year, and we saw approx. same # of deer this year as we did last. I haven't heard from too many in here talking about shooting more than a couple, so I guess I was testing the water. There has got to be a couple others in here that fill the BIG freezers though.

Huntnut I have no problem whatsoever with sustainance hunting as long as it's legal and all the meat gets utilized. I say the same for baiting; It's the hunter's choice so long as it's legal.
