I fish Gull at least a couple times a week, fishings been ok, not many limit catches out of this lake, some of the locals that are very good deep water fishermen take a limit once in a while. The fish (gills)have been in 38 to 48 feet of water in 3 or 4 different places on the lake. Some nice pike have been taken also, I personally gaffed a 20 pounder for a guy, and heard about a 25 pounder taken at the conference 2 weeks ago.If you are planning on fishing Gull for gills you need a fishfinder and a strong pair of legs because you may have to cover a lot of ice to find the fish, and strong arms cause the ice is 14 to 16 inches thick in most places.

I've never fished Gull myself on the ice, but I've nailed alot of nice gills there out of the boat. I'm working with 2 guys that fished it very heavy this winter for pike and they killed 'em all winter long at some place they call the Hogsback. Good luck!

You can park by the chapel which is a block over to the northwest of the main conference center or at the conference if there isn't something going on. I was going today but the daughter has been home sick all week and dad has to to watch her, oh well the wind is blowing like heck anyway.(maybe tomorrow)

fishctchr, I drive by the north end of Gull Lk. every day and I'm a little rough on knowing the lake , is there a light colored ice shanty at the spot called the hogs back? might come down some time this weekend.

Yes there is a shanty on the northwest edge of the big hogsback and then there is also a shanty in front of Ross township park. I fished today and it was a little slow, only took 15 gills in 5 hours that I kept. The warmer weather this weekend will hopefully turn them on a little better.

fishctchr,is it much of a walk from the conference parking lot to the Hogsback? Also what are the fish hitting on??? I thought of going to Lk. Ovid but that is a bit of a drive. I'm flipping a coin over Thonapple Lk. or Gull Lk.

Thanks fishctchr,
Fished out from the Conference fri. nite.
13" good ice.
Couple young fellows doing good on pike, tip-ups.
Bites were slow, but still took home couple nice gills, 25 ft.water, light bites, 2'/3' off bottom.
Last month or so its been slow, but i got a feeling things are going to pick up! 'Last ice action'! ?

If you are going to walk out to the hogbacks you should park and access the lake at baseline rd., it's still a good hike out there but it would take you half a day to walk there from the conference. If you have a quad you could park at the north end and drive out. I've been driving my car out to where I fish but the ice is heaving up on the shoreline making access difficult. I took 15 thurs.,21 on fri., and 18 on sat. but put in a lot of hours to get them most people didn't do near as well. I use mostly spikes but at times wigglers work real well. The water is so deep where we catch them that it's difficult to tell a bite as you have a lot of line stretch and they have been rather finicky lately.
