Went to the ramp yesterday to find out the boat dont start. Batterys dead. What gets me is last year i found out the motor wasnt charging, i got it fixed. I used it all last year without problems. I have only used my boat twice this year and the batterys dead   . I have my third brand new battery. Just dont want to be without it for weeks

just a guess : your boat might be charging just fine but you might have a small short somewhere in a wire, that drains your bat.'s while your boat's not in use . If you have a switch try turning it in the off position or disconect your pos. wire while your boat is stored. good luck.

I always do that, I never know if the auto bilge is on or I bumped a toggle or something.

Andy, Do you have dual batteries with a dual battery switch. The reason I ask is that I had the same problem a couple years ago with my boat. I would switch my battery switch from ALL to 1 or 2 and I still would have dead batteries.(got stranded a couple times). Come to find out, from a suggestion from a friend, it was my battery switch. There was two connectors inside that became loose and were touching each other and basically the switch was not working. I was draining of both batteries and the batteries were not getting charged enough. I straightened out the connections, tighened them down and have not had a problem since.

I think if you charged the battery. Then turned EVERYTHING off. You could put am ammeter on the battery and find out if there is a drain. If there is a short somewhere, you'd see that current is flowing on the ammeter. It wouldn't tell you WHERE the short is. Just that you have a draw somewhere. You'd have to trace it from there but it's a start.
Good luck.

i didnt charge my battery and this morning it wouldnt start. so i took the battery over to my truck and used jumper cables to charge it with the truck running. only about 15 min and it started the boat. the boat ran great all day. :)

We did our own testing on the vessel. Not charging. Took it to lockmans any way to find out why. Blew another rectifier. He told me two things: Check your battery connections religously, and never buy another maintenence free battery. $40 bucks and shes fixed.
