For you guys that run plugs in the river, what size anchor to you bring with you. I have a 10 ft. Dry Fly with an 8 lb. anchor for holding it out of the current but if I want to anchor and drop back plugs in the river, what do you guys recommend? I know every river is different but there has to be some kind of ball park weight. Thanks.
John

I am not sure what you mean by a 10ft. Dry Fly,,but the main thing you need to get your ancor to hold in strong current is plenty of roap !

I would go with the 14lb like Ray says for bigger water. The 8lb doesn't cut it in the bigger rivers.

And in the smaller (slower) rivers you should be able to hold yourself pretty good by rowing. The 14lb should be all purpose.

I haven't had my Dry Fly out yet so I can't speak from experience but believe it should hold well just rowing.

Thanks for the replies! Ill check with Ralf before I make the puchase but it sounds like a 14 lb. should do the job. Appreciate the info.
