I told some folks here Friday night too look for me on ESPN2 or maybe the D. Free Press cause I was bound and determined to get in some fishing on Saturday at Stony Creek even if it was over run with darn high school rowers at the Midwest Scholastic Rowing Championships. It had been a few weeks since I have gotten a day off to go fishing and to top it all off ... it was storming at 5:45 when I got up!! I was mad.

Got out there at 7:45 rain ending .... fishing the boat rental area far far to the right where the 2 picnic tables are. Started catching fish in the first 5 mins!!! Final total ... (returned of course) 4 small mouth bass ... (largest was about 2 lbs) ... 1 largemouth bass (very little fellow but put up nice fight ... bout 6in. long) ... and the one that got away ..... Im not sure what it was but I fought it for about 6-8 mins before it finally snapped my line. Im a big guy (300lbs) and it seriously almost pulled me in.

All in all a wonderful day for fishing at Stony Creek. Saw several others fishing ... a few at the north dam and a few at the pier (whats up with that?) .. dont know if they caught any.

L8ter all!

The one you lost may have been a big cat.

I didn't go, had to finish work. All this rain is keeping me behind.

Good for you GB. That's better than I have done in the boat all three trips combined. PM me w/ a phone number if you would like to try for a walleye from the boat sometime. I usually go there during the week after work if I'm by myself or LSC is bad. I have fished Stoney a long time but I have never caught a smallmouth there. I usually get a few largemouths while trying for walleyes. Thats good to know they are in there though. I will probally try to get out Wed. or Thurs. if weather lightens up.

I remember mentioning that I'm a big guy ... and that I fought it for 6-8 Minutes ... dont remember saying it was a 6 lb gill ... hmmm is there such a thing? If there are such things ... sign me up to be embarrassed in such a way ... cause surely it would be worth it to take a bath after a 6 lb gill.

L8ter :D
