Well we got skunked but still had a good day. Took my son Josh to float the AuSable at Parmalee. Figured it was time he was baptised in the holy waters :)
He got sick on the way up north, but there was no stopping him from fishing on Saturday. In fact I am the one who wanted to quit first.

Anybody recognize where this picture was taken?

Josh's first ride on a river boat.
He didn't quite get the concept of a drag free drift but the old man wasn't exactly hauling them in the boat either. All I could manage to do was to decorate a few trees.

good 6500th post steve, looks like you guys had fun regardless of the lack of cooperation by the fish.

Fish or no fish, it sure looks like a good time.
What did you have for temp? How far did you float?
After fishing that water for many years (almost every weekend), I sure would be interested in the details.

The temperature was pushing 80 degrees by the time we were done. I didn't measure the water temperature. It was hard to read the water as it was very stained so it was hard to tell where the true holes were.
We only floated from Parmalee to the Luzerne county park. Only a little over a mile of river but we spent 3 hours on it.
I'm try to think of easier ways to get my kids some success in trout fishing. After thinking about it, the easiest way might be to anchor upstream from a hole, give them a rod with a floating rapala and let them drift the rapala into the hole, them have them retrieve it. This might get them into some fish without decorating as many trees.

If we can ever coordinate a trip to Wellston Steve I found some creeks where the kids could easily land some brookies. Easy access, no waders needed in most spots and lots of pretty fish.
Looks like a great time.

Steve, we're in the process of discussing that weekend right now. We should know in a day or two if we are going. If not I will direct you to the spot or my dad will be in the campground to get you there.
