Three of us fished Brest Bay out of Sterling State park this morning from about 7:45AM to noon. We landed four walleyes, three around 20 inches and another at 14. We also landed half a dozen silver bass and lost one other decent fish that was likely a walleye.
Three of four walleyes and the fish that we lost were on a jointed shad rap, orange belly/blue back with a rattle. One other walleye was on a purple chrome hot-n-tot. Trolling speed was right at 2 mph.
We marked tons of fish in 17 feet of water between the state park channel and Stoney Point. All of our walleyes came near the point in 17 feet of water when the sun was shining. After it clouded back up, we didn't touch a fish. We also saw a couple other walleyes netted, but it didn't look like there was much going on. The water was very dirty, maybe a foot of visibility. I suspect that the post spawn bite will be on big time once the water clears.
