Checked out Lake Orion today for the first time in about twenty years. Spent most of our time drifting plain rigs w/ crawlers hoping to maybe find a walleye. No luck w/ the walleye but did catch a lot of small gills and a couple of nice bass. Also started to get into some nice crappie right at the time my work pager went off. Caught four nice ones before having to leave. Crappies were in 20'-30' about 5'-8' off bottom. Would have been a good place to take a kid to get some fish. Only one launch so I don't think I would want to be trying to launch or load on a nice summer afternoon. Nice lake with a lot of bays and canals to fish in when it gets crazy.

Fished Orion last year several times, its noormally a pretty good launch to use. people out there tend to move in and out prety quickly. Never had a problem last year. GOOD bass lake

just a word to the people that plan on fishing lake orion this year.

LARGEMOUTH BASS VIRUS HAS BEEN DETECTED IN LAKE ORION.

if you fish it, please treat the fish with care as well as making sure your livewells are clean if you happen to put a bass in the "box".

this was brought to the attention of my bass clubs' president at the MICHIGAN B.A.S.S. FEDERATION PRESIDENTS MEETING A COUPLE MONTHS AGO.

I haven't fished it in a few years, but when I did...wow. Good bass is right. Topwater at night from a little dinghy hitting the shores of the little islands...man what a blast. I think the record was 8 fish in a row on every cast...then we'd miss one and have to start counting again!

I landed a 6lb large mouth there in 2002 near the swimming area in about 20ft of water. fishing has gone down since the virus in 2003. I use to say it was teh best bass lake in oakland county...

What is the best bass lake in oakland county now>??????????????
