On my fishing hotspots map of Brest Bay there is a mark that looks like a red football in the middle of the bay (possibly a wreck or a fishing crib?). What is this thing and does anyone have the approximate GPS coordinates?

There are also small dots that I think are supposed to be rocks or rockpiles out past the Point of the Bay. Is that what these are? Anyone have a GPS point that they are willing to share so I can go out with my depth locator to see what these look like?

I have been in the bay only a few times and the bay seems pretty featureless. Am I missing good structure and I do not know about it?

Thanks.

espn.go.com/outdoors/oims/index.html is a site where you can look at the map that I am referring to. Choose Lake Erie and check it out.

Those are submerged stacks. I think that there used to be alot of gill nets around there before tey made it illegal, but the stacks still stand. Could be a hazard you you come scross one.

BAMBAM, CTT's right, those are old net stakes, you won't have any trouble with them.

I'm not sure about the other feature you're asking about. But there are dumping grounds all over the western basin, some are so covered in silt, you will not see them on your sonar.

There is plenty of structure in Brest Bay, just watch your graph, if you're not seeing it turn up the sensitivity, its there, all over.

I ussually fish the fish first. If I'm marking fish suspended, I try to get a couple to hit to see what they are. If I can't get them to hit (rare) or there junk fish. I'll move or look at the bottom for fish on cover, and try to get them (harder in my opinion).

Probably the best structure in the whole bay, as far as consistently holding decent fish, is the weed lines that extend from the breakwall at Sterling along the North shore around to the point, in roughly 12fow. They are not much yet, but are still worth a try, we took a couple fish off them last week.

Looks like a dangerous wreck? I am unsure because of the color difference.
