finally I have a good report for this spring. Grand haven pier was empty last night except for one other person and a few on the opposite pier.
beautiful night, light east wind and 60 deg no waves and the eyes were in. I got 2 a 24 in and a 27 in, inspection of stomachs showed that they had not eaten, and were hungry! no baitfish to be seen but a lot of unidentified fish splashing going on. good luck

Fished Grand Haven Sunday night from about 8:30 till 11:00 PM never had a hit!!!! Fished mostly between the piers . ( Trolling in a boat ) Did you get them on the lake side or the river side ? What pier were you on North or South ? What was the lucky bait ??? We marked allot of fish but, who's to say what they were ???

I've been working about 200 yards from the north pier in GH. I don't do much pier or big lake fishing but I was wondering what all the boats were doing all clumped up just south of the south pier and out a little ways?

How do you get to the pier in grand haven. I live in center line so I can get to any free way in seconds.

take 96 to the exit for 104 to spring lake. Go through spring lake the the split at grand river. Here you can go south to grand haven and the south pier at the state park. Follow the signs for the waterfront and the state park there is a parking lot along the river and you have to have a state park sticker to park.
For the North pier at the split in spring lake go north and take lakeshore drive along the lake (this can be tricky to find for someone new the area and I do not know specific directions) there is a fishermans parking lot and no payment or sticker is required. access to both piers is very short walk and very easy paved walking.
keep me posted if those perch move into the pier, If i can net some baitfish the action off the piers can be great.

Went out of GH early sunday (5/19). Tried for perch about a mile south of pier heads. Tough anchoring and the pack of 25 boats waas too tight for comfort. Nobody was doing very well, just trying hard. The spot was very small, maybe 100' across, over some bottom humps. Boats were as close as 20' apart. Too close for me, especially when the bite is slow. It's too big of a lake to go out and sit 20' from someone. Not my style. Maybe the water will warm soon and the schools will spread out a little.
