I was thinking about heading down to Breast Bay Sat morning before storms hit in the evening. I am new to Lake Erie walleye fishing, so I was wondering what these east winds they are predicting and all this rain will do to the fishing. I keep my boat up at Lake Erie Metropark Marina. I hate making that trip down that way with a south-southeast wind. Makes for a very rough ride. I am just debating on hanging out around the marina or making the trip if its not to rough. Any suggestions?

Do you know what the method. Trolling, drifting or jigging?

I heard they were jigging and handlining. My friend caught 4 two days ago between sugar island and grosse ile.

I will keep that as an option. Things are a little more protected in that area. Anyone else going out tomorrow?

I am hoping to make it out, but I am out of brest bay so I don't share your concerns with the exception of the T-storms.

Can't speak for the river, but if you are set on fishing the lake.... I have done VERY well in past years troll in front of the bannana dike this time of year. Don't be afraid to fish as shallow as 7 FOW. I have had sucess working 7 - 13 FOW right in front of the pump shack. I would suspect the water to be very dirty in that area tommorow though but it may we worth a quick stop on the way to brest bay.

You can run down to brest bay, getting back will be the challenge. I was set on fishing the bannana dyke two weekends ago so I ran there into a NE wind in a 27' boat and it wasn't fun.

If there is an East or SE wind, the majority of brest bay isn't that protected. Good protection from a NE wind though.

The fishing has been good in the bay for this time of year.

I just talked to my brother and we are definately be out there in the a.m. The NOAA Weather website is calling for the winds out of the south turning easterly 10knots. I will attempt Breast Bay for awhile until it starts getting rough. I will be on channel 68 and the name of the boat is Life Savers. Give me a call. I want to be on the water by 7:30.

I'll be out early tomorrow, weather permitting of course.

i would rather fish an easterly wind in brest bay, before a southerly wind any day of the week.

i have spent alot of time in this area, and a south wind is my red flag...especially switching over to easterly. that only means that is has to come out of the southeast during it's switch......basd news in my opinion.

if you go, take your rain gear.....even if it is blue-bird skies.

good luck to ya
