Fished the Au Sable last night, and today till about 1:30. I lost one immediatley below the dam on Saturday(it was CROWDED), I missed two more, then the rest of the night was one snagged walleye, and suckers, suckers, suckers, my bro got a male about 5lbs. Hit below the dam once again from 4:30am-about 8:00am, once again hooked one, and lost it. We then hit the Highbanks for the rest of the day. I went 0-2, had one saw me off on the stumps, and one hang me up on some salmon snaggers line near shore and pull off, this after I survived three 3' leaps skyward, two good run's upstream, the stumps used by my first fish, and a hard run downstream, I had this fish within' two feet of shore, but my bro couldn't get the net in position, oh well, that's steelheadin'. My broth went 1-1, a 6lb or so buck, and lost a large foul-hooked hen. There were lot's of big steelhead there, especially some males, huge. I really don't know what to expect or say about the run, it seem's there's less fish each trip, this morning, we never seen one fish roll below the dam this morning, quite a few were still trying the coffer, but it really look's like the run's winding down already, but I'm not sure, alot of loose, chrome hen's, and some silver buck's that were spawning, also the Highbank's did not have very many fish really. And lastly, there were two guy's Sat. night casting salmon torpedo's and snagging steelhead, they landed at least 8 fish, each of which was hurriedly carried upto their vehicle. So I really have no idea what to expect for the outing, I guess we'll find out soon enough, tight-lines. Oh one more thing, there were quite a few bright polished spot's in the gravel, but no fish on them, they probably got lined off Saturday.
