Just walked in the door from the ausable, kinda tired so gonna make this short.
fished sat. from 10-6 at the high banks, VERY SLOW:(
after 5 hours i hooked up with the first and only steelie of the trip, a battle that was very short lived.
i hooked her in the deeper run towards the center of the river on a tan hex she went strait to the surface but didnt break water turned i got a look at least about a 7# female nice in chrome then the hook poped lose and that was the only action except for suckers all weekend. I'm really worried about the run on the ausable this year, the waters very low and i only saw 4 fish landed all day , makes me wonder if there's even gonna be a run this year....anyone else got that feelin?

I hate to say it but that's what i'm thinkin, would you belive i stood at the top of the stairs after i was leaving and watched the water for a least 20 or thirty minutes and saw 2 fish, usally at this time of year if you stand there and count you would loss track after 50 or so. SAD!

yep, the au sable sure was slow when we (scottyhoover and myself) were up there from thurs-sun morning. scott happened to put us on some fish and we did alright. All in all a fun time, that is for sure. Weird year, there are all kinds of spawning degrees of fish in there, from silver and skeined up hard to loose as a goose and colored up, to spawned out and dropping back. pretty odd year, possibly the shear amount of ice on foote pond and the low water combined into making it a very bad year for the steel.
well, pics may or may not be posted, not too sure if they'll come out.

after thursday morning i thought you guys would hhave done well this weekend.
thursday morning on the high banks was good and got better after i left. i talked to my friend who stayed til noon he went 10 for 12 from 6am til 12 noon. thats not a bad day in my book. two fish were about 10# females nice and chrome.
it is raining outside this morning so that might help things a bit.
i will be on the river tuesday night and maybe wednesday night.

Thats what i heard, some guys said they did pretty good on thu-fri. and some hooked up with a few saterday very early but late morn-eve. they ethier droped in to the deeper hole's down stream or the few that were there got yanked out.

I think with the low water and the fact that for most of the spring lake huron has had warmer temps then the ausable, alot of the steelies, may have spawned in the lake this year, took a walk easter weekend along the beach north of oscoda, seen several fish in full spawning color in the shallows.
