As I was launching at the DNR launch on Gregory Road, another boat was coming in. The usual "How did you do?" earned the reply, "Check our live well!" So my son and I looked in the live well and it was FULL of HOG crappies! I have never seen such a mess of good size crappies. I won't say where (they did tell me) but it is good to know the capability is there for good crappie action.

They were using minnows under small bobbers, fishing a dropoff that went from 4FOW to about 15FOW.

Those lakes around there are always ready for crappie about this time of year. So how did you do?

I didn't fish, we went for a pleasure run with the kids, wife and my mom. The evening was great, temp about 60, sunset and ripples on the water. No traffic on the water at 7:30 p.m.

The Half Moon chain of lakes is known for big crappies too if you go fishing.
