View Full Version : Hoyt Ultratec 2003
A few of you asked to report back how I liked my Ultratec bow after I shot it some. I have always been a finger shooter and am well pleased how smooth this bow draws. I am using a Fletchunter release. 95 % of my arrows are in a 2 inch circle at 20 yds. I am very pleased to say the least!! Using 420 grain total weight arrows. I told the pro shop owner last week that it was like shooting a crossbow vertically. Very Very accurate!! The only problem that I am having is not punching the release and I believe that is from finger shooting. When I am totally surprised when the bow shots then the accuracy is there. I guess I think I need to feel the string leave my fingers. Very quiet bow also. The arrow drop from 20 to 30 yard seems to be 2 1/2 to 3 inches.

Glad to hear you like the bow! Hopefully I'll be picking up my 03 UT this week. Been a long process but finally decided that this is the bow for me. Can't wait to get it dialed in!

I have a Magnatec w/cam.5 and a buddy from work has a new cybertec. I think the Hoyts are awesome. I love the draw cycle and the accuracy is outstanding.
I am sure there are other bows out there that are just as accurate though.
I wish it was October! I cant wait to see how it does in the deer woods.

I just can't seem to bring myself to buy a new bow. I have a Browning that is 14 years old. I shoot, I hit my mark, the deer die just as dead as thwy would with a new bow. Yeah, yeah, faster, smoother I know all that stuff.
But in my book, dead is dead and I still have more money in my pocket! :)

I sure do love my new razortec!! It is smooth, fast, and very forgiving.
As for not "needing" a new bow.............. Everyone has a certain hobby they love to do; fishing, boating, motorcycle riding, traveling, etc. People will put money into things they love or enjoy to do. I know guys that pay $400 for a Driver to play golf with. I have old clubs and beat 90% of them everytime out. I would never pay that much. BUT, for a bow, I would definately spend the money because I take real pride in my hunting.
just a thought

But I used to help set up bows and stuff at an archery shop by my house.
I know alot of ex-finger shooters liked that release.
Make sure you buy it from somewhere that has a good return policy. Take it back if it doesn't suite you.;)

snafu1359 Thanks - My 14 year old browning does the job. I have split many an arrow at 30 yards practicing and more then that, I take 1-2 or more deer with my 14 year bow every year.
I know what these guys are saying. I have a lot of friends that have gone through a bunch of bows and guns. Spend a lot of money on hunting every year and enjoy it. More power to them. They keep the companys that come up with all this new stuff comming up with great new stuff.
To say the you enjoy hunting more because you spend more money on it is wishful thinking. I love it and would not have it any other way.
Food for thought - none of my firends that spend all this money on new stuff all time went on a caribou hunt with me and are not going on the moose hunt next fall.
So - I take "real" pride in my hunting too! I just choose to spend my money on hunting in a different way.

:D
I wasn't knockin you for useing the same bow for 14yrs.
My back up is still my reliable old Point Blank new wave that I bought in 1992.
I just like to play with new Bows untill I find one I really trust.
I finally found another one my PSE Mach 10.
But I have gone through 6 to get that one.
But hey if your Bow still does the job I say keep on shootin it;)

What I am saying Bow Hunter, is that people have many different hobbies or likes. They tend to justify what money they spend. I justify a new bow by the love of hunting and I want the best, but on the other hand I dont feel the same about golf, or fishing. I buy middle of the road equipment, because I dont feel I need to. I DOES the job, just like your older bow.
That is all I was stating, not saying anyone that has an old bow must not like hunting as much as I do.
