What do you use on your spinning reels?
If this was asked before please give me a link.
Thanks

I DO NOT recommend Eagle Claw cheapo stuff in the bottom shelf at Meijer. I have some of this on my spinning reels and I had a huge backlash tonight on the Detroit River. Good thing I had two rods.
I like Vanish and just about any of the fluorocarbons. There is a big difference between this stuff vs. monofilament. I use mostly 4lb and 6lb for bass, panfish and trout. For steel I would use 8lb. I don't use anything heavier than 8lb.

6 lb. flouro for most close in work, 8 lb. Fireline w/ flouro leader for longer range (deep jigging etc.) and 20 - 30 lb. Firleine for boards.

Various weights of Power Pro, with corresponding weight Seaguar florocarbon leader. I use it for everything from panfish to muskies and I love it. It casts like a dream with both spinning and baitcasting reels. The sensitivity is great for deep jigging or feeling your crankbait ticking weed tips or the bottom. One thing to remember is to loosen your drags, especially when trolling, to save your rod tips. The limited stretch will break them when you hang up on bottom or logs or rocks or a really big fish strike if you're not careful but not to worry, it also aids in the hooksets! I even use the same setup for steelheads (yeah, I know, you purists are going to tell me I'm nuts!) and haven't noticed any drop off in success rate. Just run a little longer leader.

fireline with various leaders
Fireline. 6# is tiny and looks like a root hair floating down the river. Anything smaller than that is too small for me to see to tie........LOL

I run 14# Fireline. May be overkill, but I haven't had a break off yet. :)

TRIPLE FISH - CAMO ESCENT for me......super tough and very dependable. low memory and easy casting with either spinning or baitcasting.

Fireline with mono leader most of the year. Below 28 degrees ,I, use spiderline mono. Fireline holds more water, and freezes guides quicker, when below freezing. I, have found spiderline mono,to be the most reliable(next to Ande) for me. Can't find Ande in this area. Fireline,is even stronger though, and cast super.

it depend on what you are fishing for. i use xcalibur in 8# and 10# fishing for steelhead. tons of strech. really hard to break off main line. but as any line the more you strech it the worse it gets. and knots break when you tie them. i use 4#and 6# leaders. seguar and maxima.

For casting I like mono and I use ande's quite a bit. I will re spool 2-3 times over the season, and it is cheap. Bass pro overcharged me so I ended up with several large spools for next to nothing. In the river verticle jigging I am trying the 6lb fire line and so far this year I have boated 20 plus eyes up to 8 lbs. lost one jig at the knot and may need to learn a new knot for that stuff.

I think i seen this line at times, and heard it's the best. How much does it cost????? And, the line i use now is trilene xl, and sometimes xt, and my new favorite, sensation. STREN SUCKS!!!!! i lost tons of fish for no reason when using it ong ago, and will never switch, or even think of using stren again!!!

I heard some good things about Yozuri hybrid clear. I just spooled up a reel with 6# so I'll tell you what I think in a couple of weeks.
sfw1960 - I have no clue where splitshot is coming from, but also being an older (well not as old as split) and slightly over weight Polish guy, I just have get his back. ;)

STREN SUCKS!!!!! i lost tons of fish for no reason when using it ong ago, and will never switch, or even think of using stren again!!! The same thing happened to me with stren.I,also had problelems with xl & xt,throwing spoons, and having them snap off on the cast(under1/2oz).When,I,lived in Florida,I , used Ande for saltwater, and landed numerous 8,10,12+,fish on 6lb test.I,ve had great luck with spiderline mono, pulling bass out of thick weeds & slop. I,tried using florocarbon, and lost some nice bass as it snapped right at landing. Fireline has me sold now, but,I, find I get more strikes on mono,so I use a 12-18",leader of spiderline.I,tried the spiderwire braid and fusion, and it didn't cast,or lay on the spool right,so went back to fireline. It cast super, spools great, and is as strongest, I've found. I,ve used 6,8,10,&14lb,and found the 8lb to meet most of my needs.I,didn't lose fish with the 6lb,but can straighten hooks on a snag with the 8lb. You have to use the polomar knot with fireline, but I add one extra overhand knot so the line lays with the flow. There was a guy who pulled a 27lb N Pike, through the ice with 10lb stren, last winter, but I still won't use it.

Nobody else makes a YELLOW flourescent line , and XT solar {fl. -green} is hard to find , maybe even discontinued!!!
I have NEVER had these problems , of course fishing addict was kinda lending to the problem you guys were having.....
A palomar knot is a FINE knot , and works well on ANY type of line , although I usually tie an improved clinch or a loop knot .
Bottom line is , your knot has to be GOOD and it has to be RIGHT.
If Berkley made a YELLOW flourescent XT , I might just try it!!!
The Hi-Vis Fireline doesn't have a flourescent glow like Golden Stren & besides the fact it "really spooks fish" [lmao] I love to see the line twitch when a fish takes.
It would do no good to poke at anyone's knot tying skills - but I use what works for me , XT Solar is a close second - but not my fav. ~ I wish Fireline was more visible -- I'd use it for more things then :D SFW :D
