I saw several boat trolling out from Bolles today, and I was wondering how they were doing, thanks for those other reports.
Today we headed back to the Turtle Island area again. We started at 7:30 with jigging blades, and had 1 in the boat by 11:00. I tried jigging anything and everything that I could get to sink anywhere near the bottom....no luck.
We then left toward the ramp and started trolling. Caught one on a harnass before I even got the second line out. Boy, did I think we found the secret!! An hour later, no more fish.
We then went back and jigged for the last hour till 1:00, and landed 6 more, lost more than a dozen, and had countless hits, in just two drifts. What a difference an hour makes!! I'm glad we went back and tried one more time. Two friends went home with their Ohio limits, so they were happy. Besides the one on the harnass, all the others were on "sonar" blades, chartruse and gold.
Beautiful weather, and LOTS of boats out there taking advantage of it.
I'll be back out Tuesday if the weather holds. Any one else going to be out there?
Good luck,
Captain Jay
