Reading in www.fieldandstream.com (http://www.fieldandstream.com) under whitetail treasury section, mast production. The author suggests growing gobbler sawtooth oaks, they mature in 5yrs and have good acorn production, I located a place that sells acorns but am looking for trees. Anyone hear of a nursery selling them
This was a good article about oak tree stands.

Yooper, If you are from the UP, you may be too far north for the cold temperature tolarance of the gobbler sawtooth oak. The literature I've seen states poor survival to death of the sawtooth oaks at an extended -0 to -10 degrees.
Since I'm one the trolls South of the bridge, I have purchased 200 trees for an experiment in Muskegon County along the Lake Michigan fruit belt. Not all of the trees are for myself. Neighbors and friends will be taking more than half of my trees. That will give all of us a greater selection of variables to see who has the best conditions for survival of the gobbler sawtooth trees. I could not find anyone in my area that had any experience with the gobbler sawtooth, so what the heck, we all thought it's still worth a try. My personal challenge is to find a logger/chipper to harvest my red pine and scotch pine to clear an area for replanting with the gobbler sawtooth and other food plots.
I ordered my trees from the NWTF Project Help and the trees actually came from Claxton, GA. They were shipped in good shape and well protected. We just lost all our snow this week, so I heeled the trees in my garden plot to protect the root moisture until finale planting. Good luck.

Hamilton Beach,
I live along lake Superior which keeps our weather slightly warmer then further inland,
trout stated they are hardy in zones 5-8 so I believe they will work at my res. I haven't contacted them yet but will check with NWTF and see what they saw.
Thanks
