Took my son and a friend of his to Webber dam today. First time, I've seen both flood gates open.We bottom fished with worms and crawlers, just below the rip rap on the west side. Caught seven carp and two chubs. Saw alot of steel fisherman. Some said they had caght one or two. One guy said he was jigging smallmouths and walleye's. He figuired it was allright, as he was using 2lb test. I, don't beleive that made it legal, but he said he never see's any CO's there. On the fish ladder side there was a whole troup of people fishing the ladder. My son wanted to visit that side,so we drove around later. He said the people fishing in the ladder had , Steelhead, walleye, smallies, and carp on stringers. Guess they had a successfull day. We released what we caught, but sure had a good time catching them. My, son caught the biggest carp, about seven pounds. He sure was excited. The others ran about four pounds apiece.

Sounds like a CO should visit more often.

So can I get too the East side of Webber Dam? Public Property?
Also, do I need 4WD? Dont mind getting the car dirty. Might over tommorrow to celebrate the end of the college semester. Also, any one know the hours of the Arrow Shack in Lyons?

To get to east side, turn west on Maple, off Divine. When road splits veer right to public parking lot. Any car will make it, hard gravel road. Good Luck.

Thank you, That is what I wanted to hear. I think I might remember being there before when I was younger. Still have yet too decided where exactly to go. It will either be there or to a lake for some bluegills. Already got enough worms last for either and got a rod rigged with a slip bobber for the gills.

Guys ... many of you seem quite knowledgeable on these two river systems. I'm interested in the history of each. Can any of you give me a heads-up on historical references...books...manuscripts....family histories..records....etc.....that would illustrate how these two systems were discovered and developed?

Check out local libary's and historical societys. The ones for Lyons are both downtown. Also try the Ionia and Grand Rapids libraries.

Charlton Park Museum, between Hastings & Nashville, might have some information. The Eaton county section, would probably be in the county drain records,as most of it was dredged,to create,a drain system for farm land.
