Looking at weather.com for Ecorse, the winds will be in the 30mph+ range in the afternoon, tapering only to 20mph+ in the evening.

I was hoping to squeeze in a few hours of fishing (launching at Ecorse) in the evening, but wondering if it's worth it. Might even try an hour or two of evening/night fishing.

The winds are supposed to be from the SW, which theoretically is better than east winds. But 25mph, not so sure.......

What's your folks' game plan, go or no go?

If it's safe to launch, and you have the time, by all means GO!!!:D
Good luck, have fun.

If your jigging, boat control will be a pain in the behind but it still beats working! SW winds are no bargin on the upper portion of the river (blowing against the current) but things may be a bit better on the lower end. Good luck if you get out!

Agree with the other responses. If you can maintain boat control, it should help the fishing. Your best bet will be to find an area close to shore where you are protected from the wind.

One word of caution about the lower river, I suspect that winds of that strength and direction may blow the water out of the area by the Lake Erie Metropark launch, making it too shallow to get out there.

Agreed there will be no water in the launch. The water is very high right now. The water is touching the bottom beam on the hoist, the water will be three feet from that tomorrow. Better launch out of Elizabeth park or wyandotte.

Was going to make first trip of the year to the river on tues. but with winds that high I think I will wait. I can go on friday and I would rather deal w/ the cold and rain than the high winds. Its tempting but its a long drive. Good luck if you make it out.

Launch in Algonac and hit the north channel, those winds won't make it TOO miserable there. Lot closer too.:)

Definately a lot closer. I have not fished the St. Clair river much since I moved out this way. I have been fishing Det. for last ten years and just love to get down there in the spring. I'm going to spend a lot more time trying to figure out where/how to get them in the SCR this year though. I can only get out one day this week so I think I'll risk it and hope for decent weather friday.

Ya, there will be very big winds tuesday, but, very warm temps. I bet the water temp should rise several degrees, beinging in alot of fish, and getting fish active. SSW winds will turn up the seas, so i wouls reccommending staying more in the river, espessially in a small boat, and stay on the american side, the waves will be less of a factor there, and cleaner water will be an the american side.
