Power Augers

I used one of my friends power augers last weekend and it was sweet. I was wondering witch ones you guys use and like...witch one is best. The one I used was a lazer mag. Also where I could find a good price.

Everybody has a favorite and mine is Jiffy. My dad has a 3hp 8inch he's had for over twenty years and he bought it used. Always starts and drills em fast. I have a 3hp 10inch and love it for walleye holes but it is heavy. Want to get a 5inch auger for it but they're like $100 so haven't yet. I got mine when Jumbo Sports went out of busines a few years ago for $210 which is about $70 off what they go for. Try Gander Mtn as the season winds down, they usually put a good discount on stuff if they have it left over.Last couple years was good time to buy ice fishing gear as the winters were so crappy nobody was buying much. This year is opposite, lot of stores are out of shanties and won't be getting anymore. Hope it helps.

I have a cobra strikemaster,this thing is pretty sweet,it has a 10"hole(I like it for stearing good size pike through the hole with ease,you wouldn't need that big of hole for pan fish.)Its a 3.5hp and ran $300 I bought it at the fishin hole downriver but I believe they are out of business now.

I have the StrikeMaster 2000. It's a 2 hp with 8" auger. I've had it for 3 years now and never had a problem. I bought it at the end of the season and paid $209 at sports athourity. The 3 hp was about $100 dollars more. Only difference is how fast you want to get through the ice. The 8" hole is perfect for pan fish. I have pulled 2 walleye and 1 28" pike through the hole but unfortunatly not this year.

Hey, Fish-Bomb , I bought the same 10" 3h.p. at Jumbo on Telegraph when they went out of bus. too ! Want to get one of the new auger bits w/the starter point. Smaller though ,like 6 or 8" With 3 ponys that thing would run like a banshee!!! poke - em- if - you -got -em !! BG

Yeah my credit card was smoking when that placed closed!I also got a St. Croix steelhead rod for $40 and all kinds of tackle. I want to get that 5 inch auger but haven't yet. Good luck!

I have been wanting a power auger for 10 years, and after taking 15 minutes last year to make one hole on Houghton lake, I said Id never use a haned auger again. Finally got one this year. I bought the strikemaster lazermag 2000. It is a 8inch bore, with 2.0 horsepower motor. I had researched these pretty well, and decided to go with the above as the 3.0 HP models with the 10 inch blades were too heavy. Mine is pretty light and the thing rocks!!

I've got a Jiffy 3 hp. with an 8 inch auger. I love it!! Great for pan fish, if your after pike, just poke two holes side by side in an oval pattern. Works every time.. Good luck.

hey check dunhams out in lansing was there last weekend and augers wer 10% off i pcked up a eskimo 8in auger single blade may not break any records but for 179 bucks it cuts good enough for me
