Going Monday, any hot spots from you guys who went Sunday. Will be there at dawn. Don't know yet if I'll launch at Liz park or Wyndotte. Will be on channel 68. Should be a nice day on the water before heading back to work Tuesday. Will be jigging.

Mike,

I was thinking about that too. Tuesday would actually be better for me, but I am waiting on some reports to get turned in. If the fishing is good, maybe I'll go, if not, probably Tuesday will be the day.

I don't have a marine radio yet, I'm looking at handhelds, so I'll be on FRS channel 8.

Hey guys,
I'll be launching out of Wyandotte municipal early in the morning (6am ?) and most likely be jigging if the water is better than it was on Friday.

We haven't tried at all this weekend because it just wasn't hitting well on Friday. Gonna try the usual places near by the launch, BASF, Mud Island, 98 & 97 and the steel mills. If that isn't going may move down a bit and hit those spots around the stacks.

I'll be in a green & tan Crestliner with a Honda tiller. If you see me say hello and we'll swap reports.

It may still be a bit early for gangbuster fishing but some big spawner females are being landed here and there.

Good luck,

-LB :)

Lead bouncer, I'll be in a green and silver Tracker.

Brian, hope you can make it on Monday. Don't buy a handheld marine radio. Go with a regular one with an 8ft attenna. Handhelds don't go very far.

We jigged for an hour off of Wyandotte at first light this morning and got nothing, and switched over to perch and did much better. We could see our jigs down 12-18" in the morning, and the water clarity improved as the day went on over at the perch grounds.

I asked at the launch when we left how the walleye fishing was, and they said pretty slow.

Looks like the eyes were slow all over.
I fished the n-end of the river. Water was stained on the American side. good in the center and still real dirty on the Canidan side.
I say a bunch of guys jiging the American side of peach Island. I spent 30 minuets there and saw one fish netted. (I think that it was the only place on the north end to jig) due to water conditions.
I lucked in to 3 eyes in the same old place- Rooster tail. Fished 12pm to 4pm the first two hit the first 20 minuets. Went back after burning 3 gal of gass and got one more. Dirty water, handlining from the grn. up a few 100 yards up. Some other boats tired in that area but were going to fast. I was amost sliding back when I got them. Red head yellow back raps. # 9 in 22 foot of water. good luck all.

Fished out of Elizabeth park this today, water was pretty good for the river, ended with one decent Walleye for the day, lost 2 more at the boat, was alone and had trouble netting and controlling the boat in that parking lot we had out there.

Still was a great day to be on the water, someone please fill me in...WHERE are these PERCH grounds located??

from others I talked to, Walleye were hit and miss, although another member from the site had 6 last I saw him. Don't remember his handle, he is from the lansing area

Tailwalker, there are guys around here that have a much better knowledge of the river than I do. But I do learn fast and remember even the littlest detail. Hope to see you tomorrow. Will be going out from Liz park also.

Walleye Mike,

The only spots I can help you with are cold spots! ;)

We fished from 6:30 - 11:00 today and had no hits. Most people I talked to had no fish, a few boats had 1 or 2 fish.

We were jigging BASF, above the Ecorse launch and the two steel plants. Will give it a few weeks and come back to the same area again. However the upper river is sounding good from the other reports.

Can't Touch This,
Anywhere in the lower river is fine, I normally put in at Liz Park or Erie Metropark, I do NOT know the river, only started fishing it for walleye last year, and only a few times then, but would like to do more out there.

Any info on areas good for perch would be helpful, I DO have a HotSpot map of the River and lake erie, so I can find an area if its called the same or somehow located on the maps

I was out this morning jigging and 2 of us ended up with 5 fish, also lost one right near the surface. Third guy on board was a non-factor to the walleye population. We got 4 out of the 5 at the mouth of St. Clair. Other fish was taken from the dirty waters by the RenCen. At the mouth, the water was dirty first thing this morning, but cleaned up considerably by 12:00pm. The only common theme between all of our fish was a white twister tail tipped with a minnow.

Try the upper part of river if you can . It was starting to clear up in the center, that was at noon sunday . only caught one 5lb female. 1/2 oz. chartruse jig with 4in paddle tail worm and minnow. saw about 12 fish caught all morning.

TrailFndr,

That was me you talked to on the river sunday. We ended up with 5 not 6, the last one we caught was a sucker and we were trying to pretend we put it in the box so wetfoot would think we were really kicking his but in our little contest.

Fishing wasnt red hot but what the heck the weather was pretty decent, and should get better over the next few weeks.
