First, I'm new to the Detroit river fishing thing and was fortunate enough to fish with someone to show me the ropes.
I've read everything I can get my hands on and I learned vertical jigging to the best of my ability. As others have said, they key is boat control and I'm getting better at that. For me, vertical jigging one rod and boat control is a full time job.
My question is, has anyone had any luck with dead sticking another bait off the bottom while vertcal jigging? I'm thinking a second rod with a live bait rig, a floater jig, a slip bobber rig anything like that. Something you could set down in front of you with minimal chance of hanging up, but you could visually monitor.
What do you think?
