Simcoe minnows

A guy came in yesterday and told me that in Simcoe someone pulled the plugs on the minnow ponds. He said that all the shops up there are freaking out. They have no minnows! He wanted me to get him some to take up there to sell to the bait shops.
Has anyone else heard this rumor?

I just posted the question on the message board at fishinglakesimcoe.com, lets see what kind of reply it gets.

Yep, it's true. The story we got from the bait store was the rivers and streams in the area were frozen and they could not net them. One operator we talked to said they were going to make a run to Michigan to buy minnows.

It currently didn't take long to get a response to my posting, I think there might be some money to be made if someone was willing.

I was there last weekend, went to three bait stores and all had plenty of minnows. Spikes or maggots were in short supply, but minnows were not. Good luck
