Slick fishing

Hello everyone I have to show off these pictures of my father with a walleye of a life time.. He was out fishing two days ago on Muskegon river here in Michigan for steelhead and low and behold he got a big surprise and got a 12 1/2# walleye.. The bad part of this story is that the season is not open right now on this river so it had to go back to the river for another day..
I was so happy for him because he is a bass fisherman and he got this with a fly rod and a 8 pound tippit with a streamer for bait.. I don't know anything about fly fishing, so for you all that do fly fish, I sure this will make some sense to you..
I guess my 9 1/2 pounder on the wall is looking mighty small these days LOL.. Here are the pictures if you would like to look at them... Cya Slick

don't fret about it going back, if you get a good reproduction mount done, you can't tell the difference and there is little to no upkeep. Real mounts will fade and crack over time. plus the gene pool gets passed on

SWEET! The look on his face say's it all! That's a great fish. I guess this is why we have a closed season. Letting the big females go to do there thing. Thank god for a camera! I love the feeling of putting a big breeder back. Not that I wouldn't put one that size on my wall, during the season.
The last day of the season I caught and released a 10 lb hog out of the St. Joe. It was a great feeling letting that one go. I know it's only one fish but I feel all warm inside thinking about her down there doing her thing, dropping her eggs. One guy said to me " I can't believe you let that fish go" I said, believe it, because I did it!
Now if she was 11 lbs or bigger she would have gone on the wall. It's just that 10 lbs'rs aren't uncommon these days. I still cant understand why people keep and eat Walleye over 6 lbs? Those fish are the ones that produce the next generation of hogs (good genes) and they just don't taste as good to me?
Again, GREAT FISH! I wish my father was still around have a chance to get a picture of him with a smile on his face like the one on your dad's. That's a great picture!:D
