Our group of 8 fished out of Port Bolster this past weekend, we caught over 500 perch, averaging around 8 1/2 inches, our biggest was 12. We fished near thorah island,in 33 ft of water, much deeper then we generally fish, but local information led us to this area. We used quads to get us to the fishing grounds with no problems. Good Luck!

How close is that to Cedar Beach or Beaverton, I'm makeing a trip from Mich. soon and am hereing reports that the fish aren't bitting yet. Most of those reports came from Cooks Bay area around Keswick and Keffers Marina.

From where we fished, Beaverton would be a much shorter run. Our accomodations, were in Port Bolster so this is where we got on the lake.

I am leaving from aburn hills and would like to know how long it would take to get to lake simcoe? Am I better off taking my own shanty or renting one from them? Is it worth the trip? Any replies welcome.

Just got back from Simcoe. Fishing was slow but if you moved enough you could pick off a few every hour or so. Keffers and to the south provided quanity but Roches point from 3 til dusk they were decent size. Roches 15 to 20 feet of water. Figure about 4 hrs from bluewater bridge give or take.

If perch are what your'e after its hard to go wrong with Lake Simcoe. We have had a great time and caught lots of perch each time we have been there. One of the advantages to going with the hut operators is the transportation they provide to the fishing grounds. You don't need to take so much gear like quads, ice shanty's, etc. We prefer to take our own "stuff" so we can be mobile, move around if the fishing slows. Hope this helps.

Only 3&1/2 hours from Port Huron.........check www.fishinglakesimcoe.com (http://www.fishinglakesimcoe.com) for all your Simcoe questions...........Secret is to keep moving, even leap frogging eachother to stay on the school.....We've never rented huts before..........
