Looks like the fishing was bunk all around this weekend. Sat. morning tried tawas bay for perch no luck. Everyone we talked to got skunked also. Packed up went to houghton lk for a chance of some afternoon, evening walleyes. We caught 2 small perch. used 1 on a tip up and got a hammer handle pike 17". Hope to do some river fishing this week with it getting colder again might bring em in. Hey weezer seen a guy bring in a nice 5# and a couple of decent "eaters" by carrolton bar friday night. DCG

Went out today to a small private lake that even if the pike aren't hungry they bass will give us plenty of tip-up action to pass the time. Well to say the least we came home with a dozen.... the dozen minnows we took out there :( My buddy and I can seem to even catch a pike this year, always seems like we are a day late and a dollar short but oh well, what's the famous saying "Thats why they call it fishing and not catching"

Good Luck To All

When was I by the Carrolton Bar?? I haven't fished that area in several years.
I wish the fishing was better out in front of Bruces bar.But then again I would probably become a drunk.

outdoorsmen,
be careful about using perch.I would keep that close to the vest,we get awesome results with perch but you better be sure noone is around because I believe it is illegal to use perch as bait.If I am wrong please correct me.

Here is the word from the 2000 fishing guide available on the DNR's webiste. Look's legal to me.
=======================================
Lawful Fishing Methods

BAIT: Any fish (except lampreys, live carp, and goldfish) and frogs may be used as bait when legally taken and possessed. Wigglers (mayfly nymphs) and other aquatic nymphs and larvae may also be used for bait but may not be taken from any trout stream except for personal use on the same stream. Crayfish may be taken for bait for personal use.

Went out Friday night and didn't do a darn thing. By the time we figured out the bluegills were 15' off bottom it was time to go home. Went out again yesterday and brought home 32 bluegills and perch. Big Al

Did well on Pike Saturday afternoon. All males very agressive on large suckers. I thought it is legal to use Perch for bait.

Perchboy thanks for the info! I went out last night to Brest Bay Lake Erie for the walleye, had two at the hole around dark, but both got off.

We fished Union sat. Had 2 tip-ups & 2 jig rods at sunken island in middle of lake.10-25'.No eyes. Fished private lake sun. 2 small (25")pike very shallow (3').Usually hammer gilz,but only managed 6 .Seems like the blue gills are going deeper. Friends nailed specks @ 6:00 a.m. 2 ft. below ice in 20 ft./water. Typical patterns are changing rapidly,in this puddle any-how ! Fish-hard...BG
