sounds like pike are a pretty hardy fish. Does anyone know how long the average pike lives, or how long they take to reach sexual maturity????

I, saw a picture of a 27 pounder,in the,Springport paper,caught through the ice this winter.The article guessed that fishes age ,at about,35 years.The article said to measure the distance between their eyes to tell their age.That one was over 5 inches.The fish was 46 1/2 inches long.Caught with a tip-up and 10 pound test.I,think they should poison or set charges under the idiots that want to kill them all. They are one of my favorite fish to go for.

I read that Musky can live to around 12 years. I bet pike average around that too.

sometimes you have to do drastic things to save native normalcy. Remember, some people would think that big dang carp thats comin up the illinois river to be a great game fish, but they can be destructive to the great native fishing that we have in michigan (and now accepted imports). Below most large bridges in the West that have fish bypasses or similar systems, they kill larger non-sought after predators that prey on smolts. Saw this, they did leave a large walleye as its a prized gamefish, but took the suckers, etc.
