Looking to pick up a smoker and would like some opinions. Has anyone tried the Bradley with the wood pellets? Looks like a nice setup, but EXPENSIVE.

Leaning more towards a Brinkmans or Cabelas.

DON'T do a Bradley unless you want to buy their wood pellets for the rest of your life.

I presume your talking about an electric smoker. If you are, then let me suggest that you buy the biggest model available (circa $725 at Cabela's).
The smaller models are all the same regardless of manufacturer, however they are SMALL, real SMALL.

I haven't made the plunge yet so I have made my gas grill into "smoker" for ribss etc. Works great too.

I bought one of those metal plates that you place on top of the flames to create heat, but disperses it. Then I take a metal smoker box, fill it with wood or pellets and place it on top of the metal plate. I then put the grates back in, cover them with 2 layers of heavy-duty aluminum foil. I then put in the ribs on a rib rack, close the lid turn the gas down to lowest setting. All this stuff is available at Meijers for about $25 total.

And, my ribs win trophys!! (recipe: $500.00 )

I have a "Big Chief" electric smoker, but for my birthday last year I recieved a Brinkman smoker from my sister that was "Propane" powered! Its the same size as there electric or charcoal models. I can take it with me when we go north and I think i'm gonna have time to smoke something (Salmon!) and dont have to worry about finding electricity or watching over a charcoal fire. It has the cosistancy of the electric model, but you can also adjust the heat better for what ever your smoking. She had mentioned "Miejers" having it? This puppies great!

Looking to extend & broaden my "season" this year, anyone ever smoked suckers? It wont be long til the "Sucker Festival" in Omer! I would like to attend and check it out!

Thanks.

We used to smoke suckers, but it was in a smoker my Grandpa made out of an old fridge. That thing worked great.

I do use my grill for smoking ribs, chicken and the like, but want something a bit bigger so I can do a good bit of fish, jerky or sausage.

I have used electric, gas, and charcoal smokers. Charcoal requires more attention, but, from my experience, it gives a much better flavor.
