hello all, wondering if anyone out there has any experience using underwater camera's, as I am thinking about purchasing one. if they dont work as good as they claim, i would consider a flasher.
thanks

If your interested in a very good flasher, I would say a Vexlar would be your best bet. Underwater cameras are very nice and add to the experience of summer or winter fishing. I have looked at several before buying the one I have. To name a few, Aqua View, Ovc (think that was the name) catch cam, another with the name vista in it. I bought the Atlantis and am very well pleased with it. Just my 2 cents worth. Skeeter
Take a look at the flashers. I've used both, and I'd take the flasher over the camera. I do like the camera's, I'll probably buy one this year. I think it will make a great learning tool. If you want something for fishing, I think the flasher is the better bet.

Sea-view makes a high quality camera. They run $500.00 for a model with 150ft of cable and a monitor. Ive used it perch fishing on Lk. Huron and it worked great. Just a little info for you.

Flasher's and LCD's no not compair to underwater camera's for ice fishing, still fishing, or slow drift fishing. I have used all types of fish locating equipment and found that the underwater camera's work the best by far for ice fishing. If you have ever been sitting in your hot spot with your flasher lighting up like a christmas tree and not catching any fish and wondering why, the under water camera can answer the question. I have droped the camera down to find that some of the lights on my flasher are small air bubbles on the dieing weeds, snails half way up the weeds or other fish (suckers, bait fish) that will not bite or that you do not want. In some cases you may have drilled your hole or anchored your boat a short distance from the rock ledge or weed bed that you wanted to fish. With the camera you can confirm that you are or are not in the right spot and that the fish that you want are without question there. Flasher,s and LCD's will beat the camera every time in a moving boat but the camera is #1 when sitting still. Enjoy your time in the woods and on the water.

I've got both, Vexilar FL8 and the OVS camera(Outdoor Viewing systems), and both have their place. I take both out on the ice with me. W/ the camera, their is no doubt at what you're looking at and they are a lot of fun. Make sure you have infrared lens.
The flasher is good as well, my LCD graph never makes the hard water anymore.
Good Luck!
