but only cuz there isn't any $$$ riding on it!:D Pickeral (chain and grass)are in the same family as Pike. Walleye are sometimes erroneously referred to as Walleye(d) Pike, but are more closely related to perch. I believe this common mistake has to do with the teeth that 'eyes have, though other than the fact they HAVE teeth there really isn't much similarity to the rows (& rows&rows&rows&rows) of teeth that a pike has. Brim is a common term in the south for the various 'sunfishes' which include the other species you mentioned. I believe a redear sunfish and a pumpkinseed are the same thing. Bluegills are in the sunfish family, as are rock bass (also known as google eye, red eye and frequently confused with warmouth bass). The basses Large Mouth, Small Mouth and Spotted are also members of the family known as 'Sunfish'. Man, I hope I got this right, but I'm sure someone will let us know if I strayed too far. Hope it helps!:)

A pickerel is actually a member of the pike family, and is in no way related to a walleye. It is confusing though, since walleyes are often sold as "pickerel", especially in canadian restaraunts. Walleyed pike are just what some people call walleye. Bluegills and pumpkinseeds are separate species, pumpkinseeds are often referred to as just "sunfish". Brim or bream is a generic term applied to all sunfish, especially in the south. In Europe, there is a species actually called a Bream, but it is in the carp family.

Redears and pumpkinseeds are not the same fish, redears are monsters, they grow upto 5lbs, while a 1lb 'seed is huge.
