I think that we have another 3 weeks of Icefishing left here in SE MI, probably into may in the UP. It takes more than 4 or 5 days of 50 temps to melt 2' of ice, although itll be sloppy......Hopefully itll kick the steelies into gear!!

No thank you. Wet sloppy slush, water running down your hole, finding out your old waterproof boots has sprung a leak, time for me watch the reports of all the ice rescues. We had a good ice season, I'm saying thank you mother nature for a beautiful season. See ya next season. :D

Hey ifish-4eyes you give to easy:) The fun is just begun. Stepping in holes in the dark, falling down on the sloppy ice, sliding down the mud hills and going home with your truck looking like you entered a mud bog contest. Count me in.Somebodys got to hook them eyes:D

Not sure where your from, but in the Central Michigan area, there is about 24-30 inches of ice. It is not going to disappear overnight. I predict at least a month of ice fishing yet.

Maybe another month on the inland lakes north of M20.
But the saginaw river could get iffy between now and the closer.
Hey Skeets good to hear from a nieghbor.

I think you and I fish some of the same water. I saw one of your post about fishing a boyscout camp. Is this the one just off from 115.

Let's not forget that some of the best perch fishing for those jumbos will come on late ice.

best perch fishin i ever did was march 28th about 3 years ago on l.s.c behind genos 100 yards off shore on 3 inches of ice, ice was out about 400 yards and there was guys standing right on the edge fishin all day long. my wife and i ended up with 68 nice fish from sun up till about 1:30p.m. i would have stayed but we ran out of bait and when i went to get more they were out of minnows & wigglers so we left. damn that was fun, bring on the warm stuff cause i'll be the last guy standing out there.:D

I've always had my best hard water fishing of the season on the first 4-5 inches of ice and the last ice as long as it's not to thin and honeycombed. I'll be out there as long as it's safe. Use common sense and caution. A PFD is also a good idea.

Still keeping fingers crossed to be ice fishing in Lansing on April 5. About 20" of ice on Lake Ovid, a bit more on some backwaters along the Grand River.

This winter has been crazy busy. I haven't even made it out. I'm hoping to make it out before the ice goes. I sincerely hope this isn't the "last chance".

This weekend will NOT be the last chance unless conditions get historically balmy next week. There is a lot of ice on the lakes, 3+ feet up here.

hey ozzy, i remember being on the ice about 3 weeks ago maybe 4 but it was 38 degrees and the sun was out, and there wasnt even any water on the ice.... i think 2 feet of water keep the ice pretty cold... ive been thinking that we could have a bbqon memorial day on the ice this year....wearing wife beaters..lol
see ya man....
