I was down at u om m for the roundball game and it was thundering and lightning about 4:30 pm. Cold rain too, need to remember to put the umbrella in the van. I heard on wwj that lightning hit a transformer and dropped a powerline across haggerty rd. I guess the question is, do I drop the spud???? 8 above right now..It was fun skateing home....Not!

Saturday we had a bolt hit the ground 300 ft away at the Banana Dike. The dike was 20' higher than the ice level and took the hit. We thought about leaving but who would carry the auger? We stayed put......
Statebull yelled "Man-that was close!!!!"

Lightining comes from static electricity in rain clouds. Before the snow hits the ground it is actually rain then the very cold artic air freezes it into that white fluffy stuff called snow. So thunder and lightining can accure in the winter. Tornadoes can also accure if the conditions are right. So make sure you anchor your shanties and you won't fly away to the land of Ozz like Dorthy did!
