I received a Clam 2000 as a christmas gift this past year and I finally took it out on the ice today. I got it all set up and stepped inside and the plastic floor busted out of it. Too add to my dissatisfaction when I was pulling it off the lake the plastic piece that holds the pull rope broke out. Needless to say that Gander Mountain will be my first stop on Monday morning. Two thumbs down here! Anyone else have this problem?

I bought one a month ago and I also cracked a piece off the floor first time out. Also broke one of the hole cover lids first time out. But overall I really like it, (easy to set up and take down and light weight). The only bad thing about it is I wish it was taller:mad: .

buy a shappell with the clam money, not a problem in 5 years of constant abuse, we like to drink beer when we ice fish, plus i think you will have money left over for beer and bait. get the 4000 , you will love it.

My friend bought a Claim 2000 on the internet a couple months ago. He also broke the floor after only a couple times out. He called the place on the web he bought it from and they were fully aware of the floors breaking. They offered to fix it or replace it.

I would also recommend a shappell, however I would spend the extra money and get the all black one vs. the gray one. I have a 2000 that I have had for 6 years and have never had a problem with it. However, when I went and bought a 3000 this year (the gray one) and the first time I set it up I put a gash in it on the end trying to put in the center support. BPS took it back and gave me a new one. That one ripped on the 3rd time we set it up. Seems as though they are using a different fabric on them. I have since cut off a 1/4" off the support and haven't destroyed it any further, yet.

Shappel makes some pretty nice stuff. I purchased the Rover this year and I'm really impressed with the quality. My second choice was the Frabil ultra-lite, but the Rover felt a little stronger and had more "goodies" (carpeted seat, shelf etc) for the money. the hinge design is a little stronger than the other brands too.

My Shappell Rover put up with WalleyeMike's Abuse last Ice season and all my abuse this year:D Really well built and the Black Canvas is enough of a heater by itelf when the sun is out!

The 3000DX is made with the black material, it also has windows on both sides and the windows are much larger than the 3000.

I love my 3000DX, got some good use out of it this year :D

Yeah I didn't know shappel made a 1 man until today either. Check the franks outdoors (linwood) webpage they have a picture and measurements. I think it looks nice.

https://www.franksgreatoutdoors.com/Store/shappellshanties.htm

for me next year, the race is down to:
-shappel rover
-frabill ranger solo
-clam fishtrap

decisions, decisions.....shappel seems to have decent prices

Yeah I don't have a problem with the skis except one of the D-ringed bolts I had was cross threaded. Shappel sent me 4 new ones.

Boy,, I don't know if I could handle that thing only being 33" wide,,, that seems kinda cramped. I think I'm just gonna save my money and go with the OtterII small den next year. About the Shappell skis,,,,,, I ripped mine off,, 5 minutes into they're maiden voyage, they couldn't handle all my crap on top of them,, they just buckled and all my stuff tumbled. I can only afford "so" many globes for my lantern in a season.

Well, judging by all the replies my choice is a no-brainer. Shappel it is!! Thanks to everyone for all the great feedback, this is what makes this site so great.

Kid,

Try leaving your couch home next time and get a few of those chairs like Higherpowered had. Just kidding. PM me if you want to go Saturday morning.
